My First Family Camp Experience

Things I learned from Family Camp...

*It isn’t called Big Sandy for nothin’. (thanks, Christine)

*Everyone brings a part of Big Sandy home with them no matter how much they try to clean and leave it behind…

*Red clay turns orange when wet.

*You CAN start a fire in the rain with enough lighter fluid.

*When tent camping in the rain, it's probably a good idea to have a backup.

*One rule to repelling….don’t look down. 50 feet looks much taller from the top of the wall than from the bottom.

*In regards to the repelling rule…do remember that you come in contact with the ground at some point.

*One more point on repelling....if you listen closely, you can hear the ALERT Cadets laughing as you leave...

*I would have lost weight at FC from all of the walking had there not been a coffee bar…

*There is always someone willing to lend a helping hand.

*Forget fixing your hair. What’s the point?

*Forget packing plenty of clean clothes. Again, what’s the point?

*Good shoes are a must.

*Bikes are a must.

*Ponchos are a must.

*Don’t pick the old horse on the trail ride.

*Do attend the sessions, they are so very encouraging.

*Don’t go barefoot, the sticker burrs have steel barbs on them, I’m sure of it.

*Do take plenty of healthy snacks, the concession stand is evil…

*A fly swatter can be your best friend in the bath house.

*Hamburgers and peanut butter taste better in Big Sandy.

*You can find the biggest blessings in the most unlikely places.

*Lew Sterrett is awesome.

*The Duggars are awesome.

*The Bates are awesome.

*The staff is awesome.

*The friends you make are awesome.

*You'll never want to come home.

When can we get together? The children just asking about the Findley family and wondering how you all were doing!
I sure have missed my friend and chatting with her!

Please please call me when you have time.

  2. Forget the lighter fluid, the Pooles & McCaffertys used propane (and a little electric fan) :D
