Herbs and Elderberry Tea

My new favorite place to shop?  The Bulk Herb Store!   I have ordered with them twice now, in a month!  Don't judge me.  They have comparable prices, and a fantastic selection.  The Bulk Herb Store offers much in the way of information on each herb, home remedies, and supplies.   I highly recommend them!

So, since we are well into cold and flu season, I've come up with a few concoctions to help get us through, one of which was an elderberry tea blend.  It has been a hit with the kids, and my husband, who NEVER drinks anything other than good ol' Lipton iced tea, much less anything even remotely warm!  Here's my recipe for it:

Elderberry Tea
(all measurements are approximate)
1T Dried Elderberries (Bulk Herb Store)
1/2T Dried Red Clover
Fresh Ginger, I cut a piece about1/4" thick and 2 1/2" in length
1 Cinnamon Stick
Peel of 1/4 of an orange

Put all ingredients together in a glass bowl or french press.  Pour boiling water over all of the ingredients, and let steep for 5 - 10 minutes.  Strain out ingredients and then pour and serve!  We like to add honey to our tea, although the elderberries add a sweet taste all their own.  Make about 5 cups of tea.

Kiley's input:  eye of newt and toe of frog.  He thinks he's funny, with his Macbethisms.  I don't let on...
